Michael Cyra is a nationally-known painter and fine-art photographer living in Charleston, SC.
Michael is a cheddar-head, originally from Wisconsin. His passion for art and photography started early when he first “borrowed” his older brother’s graduation gift…a 35mm SLR film camera. Since then, Michael hasn’t put down his brushes or his camera and continues to develop his craft through education and workshops. He earned a marketing degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and later an MBA from Wake Forest University. Michael owns and operates PhotoGraphics Photography in South Carolina.
“Family and friends make fun of me because I’m constantly pointing out the way light and color embrace certain subjects in the landscape. It’s a wonder I don’t drive off the road sometimes! As a professional photographer I feel I have a duty to capture the reality of what’s in front of me, and it’s this vision that drives my true passion of interpretive painting. I get this incredible opportunity to not only represent reality but to give a sense of how I am feeling about a subject through the use of pigment and brushstrokes. I feel fortunate to be able to share this window into my mind’s eye.”
When you hire Michael, you’re hiring an artist. Every venture is a creative challenge and he embraces all projects with his unique viewpoint. His fine-art photography of real estate, architecture and the landscape is as accomplished as his work with family portraits and milestone events. Collectors are thrilled to see Michael painting more and more in recent years. He is honored to be represented by Hagan Fine Art Gallery in South Carolina.
